Like
the proverb says it, "small fish will become tall" and the Panier
à Pain does not make it lie.
Born from a little absurd idea at the time, to make
fresh bread and croissants every day,
it opened its doors on June 14, 1986, in a very small store
of 480 square feet in Orford, a few kilometers from Magog (Eastern Townships).
We use the method of "cooked on the spot" using frozen
dough,
very much in vogue at this time.
In 1988, the Panier à Pain undergoes its first
change and moves within a few steps in a store of 1200 square feet. It
is at this time
that
we start
to
create,
to elaborate and manufacture our own bread dough and croissants and
continue to develop our succulent cakes and pastries.
That year, our efforts are crowned because we are
selected "Young
Company of the year, Estrie". This price, decreed by
the Ministry for Industry and commerce, filled us with joy and
pride. We are
also elected
in the same category by the Chamber of Commerce of our locality, thus
assure us the recognition of our pars. Describing you the emotions
which these
distinctions brought us is difficult so much they were
strong. Still today we remember them in the moments of doubt and they
push
us
to continue our way of doing.
1990, in spite of the risks of an economic situation
not very favorable, we cling to our ideal continuously unceasingly
to add new delights.
We
did many hours to prepare, taste, start again and
taste again
the "Savoureux, Godets, Javanais, integral
bread and other specialities which made the Panier à Pain a place of choice".
That year, we also begin the production of our
chocolates. We work out
one after the other our recipes of pralines, we imagine
the packaging with a lot of
color, we follow
advanced
courses, it moves unceasingly at the Panier à Pain at that
time.
In 1992, we do not have enough space for the
chocolate factory and the customers of Magog call us. We then open a
branch on the famous Main Street
where we install our chocolate factory as well
as a point of sale.
1996, our fame grows and obliges us to see further. We
move our branch of Magog in a store twice larger, better located where
we can then
offer a service of
a restaurant with a pretty terrace and also arranging our
offices and warehouses there.
2001,
which were to arrive arrived, the workshop of production and the store
of Orford became too small and it is still necessary
to
increase. That's
no problem, in January 2002; we relocate the store of Orford
in the store
close
thus passing to 1200 to 2500 square feet. We can finally
breathe and produce in a more effective way to face the growing request
and that
allows us
to offer a dinning room in Orford, a lack of space having
us constrained to give
up this sector in 2000. Again, in 2002, our efforts are recognized
by the Chamber of Commerce of Magog and gained the price "Retail
commerce".
The small Panier à Pain became large, certainly
but it never lost sight of its objective, that is to offer to gourmand
and gourmets, small and tall,
of the
delights of quality and a service of choice: With
the Panier
à Pain, we do not regard only our customer as a sale, we want that
once at his place,
it is proud
to taste a good cake or a good bread and is happy to have
pushed
the best door.
